ハチ公は大変に有名ですが、俗説や誤聞も多く、正しく伝わっていない部分もたくさんあります。当サイトは、当時の貴重な文献から、ハチ公の真実を探っています。また、様々な方面からハチ公へのアプローチを試みました。長い時代を経て、忘れ去られた当時の人々の、ハチ公へ寄せられた思いを、時代風俗とともに解説し、秋田犬や日本犬についての資料もそろえました。

★博物館の装飾
「忠犬ハチ公博物館」は、その名の通り、博物館を模したデザインになっております。ハチ公の生きた時代である１９２０年代から１９３０年代のレトロな雰囲気を楽しんでいただければ幸いです。
この時代は、日本では大正、昭和という二つの年号の時代にあたります。近代以降の日本の年号は、天皇の即位にはじまり、崩御によって改元します。明治という年号から始まった日本の近代史は、大正（約１５年）を経て、昭和（約６４年）と続き、現在の平成へと至っております。第二次世界大戦以前の、明治・大正、昭和初期までを「戦前」と呼びます。
ハチ公の生きた時代である大正から昭和は、俗に「大正ロマン」「昭和モダニズム」と言われ、西洋文化を取り入れ、それらが日本の文化と融合し、独特な雰囲気を作り出していました。また、当時流行のアール・ヌーボーやアール・デコの様式が取り入れられ、様々な方面の装飾に活かされていました。
当サイトでは、洋と和の和合した、当時のデザインをしのべるよう工夫したつもりです。

The Meiji era, Taishou era of pre World War II, and the beginning of the Showa era are called "Prewar days".
It was commonly said, "Taishou era romance" and "Showa era modernism", and Western culture was taken, they united with the culture of Japan, and had produced peculiar atmosphere at the Showa era since Taishou era that was the age where Hachiko had lived. Moreover, the art nouveau of the fashion at that time and the style of the art deco were taken, and it helped to the decoration of various districts.

日本犬資料室・・・ここには、日本犬に関する資料がございます。今から８０年ほど昔、日本犬は外来種の犬と雑種化し、絶滅の危機を迎えておりました。１９２８年、斎藤弘吉氏によって、日本犬保存会が発足されました。斎藤さんの活動に貢献した、一匹の秋田犬がいました。それこそが、ハチ公であったのです。ここでは、当時の日本犬をめぐる、人と犬との歴史をご紹介いたします。
ハチ公のいた時代・・・（現在製作中）。ここでは、ハチ公の生きていた時代について解説する予定です。時代背景や風俗、ハチ公のいた当時の渋谷という町についてご紹介するつもりです。
ハチ公ひろば・・・掲示板や、博物館便り（更新の予定やハチ公に関する話題をお知らせしています）がございます。
日本犬文庫・・・ここでは、日本犬に限らず、日本における人と犬の関係を、風俗資料や文学などからご紹介いたします。
